How We Calculate Our Metrics

What we measure

  • Total grams of protein: This is the total grams of protein in the product.

Total Protein = Protein per Serving × Servings per Container

  • Price per gram of protein: How much you pay for each gram of actual protein.

Price per Gram = Total Price ÷ Total Grams of Protein

    - Genrally speaking, lower is better for your budget. Shown in your selected store’s currency. - We fully acknowledge that price is not equal to value. Not all protien is created equal either ([see here for instance](/blog/amino-spiking)). - Note that this is different that $/serving which is not really the metric most people care for. We're after grams of protein to maximize those gains!

Macro metrics (gotta count your macros!)

  • Calories per gram of protein:

Calories per Gram Protein = Calories per Serving ÷ Protein per Serving

    • Lower is better if you want the most protein for the fewest calories on a diet.
  • Carbs per gram of protein:

Carbs per Gram Protein = Carbs per Serving ÷ Protein per Serving

    • Lower is better if you’re trying to keep carbs down while maximizing protein, like those of you on Keto diet.
  • Fats per gram of protein:

Fat per Gram Protein = Fat per Serving ÷ Protein per Serving

    • Lower is better if you’re trying to keep fat instake down while maximizing protein.

We use the label values for protein, carbs, and calories. If you think we got something wrong, please contact us via Discord to let us know.

Why these metrics

They answer the two questions most people actually care about: “How much protein am I getting?” and “How much am I paying for it?” Keeping it this simple makes products easy to compare at a glance. We are constantly trying to improve our comparisons so if there's something else you'd like to see, do get in touch!
